BWC Hockey Academy announces

2 time Wisconsin Coach of the Year as U18 Head Coach

The BWC Hockey Academy did not need to look too far to find a replacement for their recently departed MIDGET prep Head Coach (acquired by the Vancouver Canucks). We are thrilled to have our BWC Hockey Director Maco Balkovec accept the position.  Balkovec, who has had an immediate impact at BWC, now assumes the dual responsibility of overseeing the Minor Hockey organization and coaching the top program with its affiliate high school.

“I’m very excited for this opportunity,” the two-time Wisconsin high school coach of the year said.  “It gives us the chance to continue the model of long term growth and development that we are bringing to the Winter Club.  I’d love to see us build this into the premiere program in Canada, a destination for the best players who want to focus on hockey and academics in an environment that reinforces the importance of both and understands the needs of young men this age.  We want to be able to provide them with the ability to spend three years of their life in a place that has their best interest at heart. BWC Academy will be focused on building great hockey players who are even better people. I cannot wait to get started and meet the boys and their families.”

“This is a great example of the depth of our organization and our commitment to providing all our members, BWC and Academy with a top notch experience. We congratulate Maco on this new role and are very excited to see his award winning coaching now a part of our Academy Program.“
