Heart of the Game

"BWC Family comes to the Rescue"

This is Chia Mellow. She was rescued from a high kill dog shelter in California by an organization called "Thank Dog I Am Out Rescue".

The organization had to adopt and find temporary homes for Chia and 120 other dogs. Each received medical attention including vaccination, spay and nutured etc. Then, another organization of airline pilots , called "Wings of Rescue", boarded all 120+ crates containing their precious cargo for a trip from LA to Bellingham. At the airport, adopters.were brought out onto the tarmac to witness the arrival of the plane. There, a small army of volunteer handlers took each dog for a pee while a the adopters watched on the sideline. Every detail was planned despite the chaos of yapping and anxious adopters. There was even a quiet room for dogs that were overwhelmed by the trip.

Chia was brought out on grass a little bit later. We noticed she was really mellow but playful and what about these spectacular big ears. The rest is history - we got her papers to cross the border back into Canada and made the trip back to Vancouver. There, we introduced her to our other dog "Chubby" who is also an rescue dog. So it has been a month now and Chubby is truly smitten with Chia. This experience It has worked out really well for us and judging by the many posts on Facebook the same is true for the many other rescue dogs that have found a home.

One last thing about the dog story and Jacob's involvement... Basically, Jacob scouted the event on Facebook and convinced my wife that we should a second dog and she ultimately sent me and my daughter to Bellingham... : )

Best,
