Angus Crookshank Commits to New Hampshire NCAA
BURNABY, BC – Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) Prep Division MVP Angus Crookshank announced Monday that he has committed to the University of New Hampshire.
Crookshank, 16, tied for first in CSSHL Prep Division scoring this past season, registering 61 points (42-19-61) in 35 games with the BWC Hockey Academy Prep team.
“We are incredibly happy and proud of this accomplishment for Angus,” said BWC Hockey Academy director and Prep team head coach, Maco Balkovec. “It’s great for our league, our program, and the Crookshank family. It shows that the CSSHL is about development and that practice matters.
“I don’t know anyone who works harder than he does; none of this is by accident. His work ethic and his desire to get better are exemplary, he is an “everyday” player. Angus has that burn to win and that willingness to put in the time to get better. We talked yesterday and the last thing he said to me was, ‘Now the real work begins.’ We are all so excited to see where he goes from here and to watch his development path. UNH has had great success with BC players and we hope this continues with Angus.”
The North Vancouver, BC product also appeared in five games with the Langley Rivermen of the BCHL, tallying one goal. He will suit up for the Rivermen full-time during the 2016-17 season.
Crookshank recorded 36 points (17-19-36) in 26 games with the BWC Hockey Academy Elite 15s team during the 2014-15 season. Overall, including post-season, the 5-foot-10 forward has accumulated 104 points (64-40-104) in 69 career CSSHL games.
The University of New Hampshire Wildcats are members of the NCAA Division 1’s Hockey East Conference, where they play against the likes of Boston College, Boston University and University of Maine. They have had 12 NCAA Tournament appearances since 2000.
