BWC E15 alum Kyle Johnson has committed to Yale University.

Johnson, 17, spent the 2013-14 season with the BWC Hockey Academy Elite 15s team, netting 14 points (9-5-14) in 24 CSSHL games.  He also won Top Student-Athlete award for the 15 team.

“Kyle had other options available, but he decided to come to our program to develop his game,” said BWC Hockey Academy Elite 15s head coach, Leland Mack. “He is an everyday guy, he worked to get better each day on the ice, in the weight room, in the classroom and he excelled at all three. With Kyle, I knew he would reach his hockey goals if he stuck to the plan and was himself. We are very proud of him and his opportunity at an Ivy League school.”

The Port Moody, BC product spent this past season with the Prince George Spruce Kings in the BCHL, where he registered 41 points (12-29-41) in 58 games during his rookie campaign.

“I am excited and honoured to be joining such an amazing University and hockey program,” stated Johnson. “I completely fell in love with everything about Yale after seeing campus. The way they approach the process of helping young players develop both on the ice and off seems like a perfect fit for me. I feel it’s completely the right spot for me to further my hockey and academic career.”

Yale, an Ivy League School, plays in the NCAA’s ECAC League. They won the NCAA National Championship in 2013.
